Profiling a sensitive institution to which the whole world lays claim, at a key moment when Shakespeare’s Birthplace was being refurbished, was achieved through clear communication and a willingness to share with the media what was going forward. The international dimension, the national, and the local needed to be considered at all times and never more so than when Shakespeare’s mother’s house proved not to be her house at all.
